Machines Had to be Tested First
The
Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino’s slot
machines had to submit to various state
tests before they could be allowed to
open. They had 516 slot machines, all of
which needed to be tested before the
casino could open its doors to the
public. They had a gala planned, and
were sure that their slot machines would
pass the testing, but it still had to be
done.
Some of
the testing that had to go on at the
slot machine casino was the slot
machines themselves, as well as the
employees. The state watched to see how
the employees reacted to bomb threats,
counterfeit currency, hold-ups, and
handbag thefts. As they finished the
testing, the state found areas that
needed correcting, but still nothing
that seemed as if it would hold up the
opening of the slot machine casino.
Once all
of the testing was completed, Gulfstream
won the state’s approval to open their
slot machine parlor, and have their gala
opening as planned. Locals are excited,
as they know that half of every dollar
generated by the slot machines will go
directly to Florida’s schools. The state
thinks that there should be somewhere
around $209 million in slot machine
revenue going to public education once
all 1,500 slot machines are up and
running.
