Machine Attack
How many
have played the slot machines and lost
their money? The numbers are countless.
How many have done exactly that and then
wanted to beat the heck out of the slot
machine for taking said money? Again,
probably countless numbers. But how many
actually take action against the slot
machine until they break it? We know of
one.
Truy Huu Phung, 41, got angry with the
slot machine that he was playing at the
Catfish Bend Casino and started bashing
it until it broke. Once it was broken,
he left the premises, but the casino’s
security cameras caught the crime and
the man responsible for it.
Phung admitted to breaking the slot
machine and plead guilty to
second-degree criminal mischief. He is a
homeless man who is currently located in
the Davenport area, and is now awaiting
sentencing on December 3rd.
Police arrested him in August after they
reviewed the police tape and discovered
him punching the slot machine with his
closed fist. Phung left the casino after
breaking the machine, but the police
were able to match him up with the
security footage and his Player’s Club
Card in order to make the arrest.
Phung has been released prior to
sentencing, and is expected to seek
deferred judgment and probation. He will
be residing in the same homeless center
he was in before he broke the slot
machine. He has also agreed to report to
probation officers before the
sentencing.
