Not So
Much Support
New
Hampshire is currently trying to figure
out if it is in their best interest to
legalize slot machines in the state.
With so many other states raking in
money hand over fist from the slot
machines, they are beginning to wonder
if it wouldn’t behoove them to do the
same. However, there has been some
misinformation when it comes to the slot
machines in the media, and their
officials want the record set straight.
A recent article that appeared in one of
the local newspapers said that the House
Ways and Means Committee endorsed the
recommendation to pass a slot machine
bill next term by a 9-8 vote. This is
not the case. Rather, they endorsed a
bill hat would decide whether or not
they should consider the slot machine
bill next term.
Many were upset because they thought
that slot machines had been legalized
somewhat under the radar – yet this is
not what happened at all. They were
merely deciding if this is something
that should be followed up on, or if
they should let the idea of legalizing
the slot machines go.
There is also the issue that although
many of them voted yes that they wanted
to continue talking about the slot
machines, they said that they would be
unlikely to vote yes on a final bill
that would actually legalize them. The
idea that they were in support of the
bill was not really what happened, and
in fact most will not be in the long
run.
