Tribal
Compact Amended
Lakes
Entertainment announced today that there
will be an amendment to a tribal compact
that will give them more slot machines.
The amendment to the Tribal State Gaming
Compact between the Shingle Springs Band
of Miwok Indians and the California for
the Red Hawk Casino has been approved by
the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The amendment will take effect as soon
as the BIA lists it in their Federal
Register, and the tribes could not be
happier. The compact now runs through
2029 and allows the tribe to have up to
5,000 class III slot machines at one
facility. Because the state has agreed
to more slot machines, the tribe will
give the state revenues of 20-25% from
the slot machines.
The amount of slot machine revenue that
they pay will be based on a sliding
scale determined by the amount of money
coming in from the machines. They will
also donate $4.6 million a year to the
Revenue Sharing Trust Fund – which pays
money to those tribes in California that
may not have slot machines.
The tribe is thrilled by the deal, as
they say that they can now open their
casino with Class III slot machines this
upcoming December. The Red Hawk Casino
has big plans for their new casino –
they are going to start with 2,000 slot
machines, 75 table games, a high stakes
gaming room, etc. They will also have
food and beverage outlets and enclosed
parking. They will be employing about
2,000 people as well.
