Casino Says No
to Slot Machine Pay Out
The
Seminole Hard Rock Casino in
Tampa, Florida, is under fire for not paying out a
player on one of their slot machines.
Bill Seebeck, a resident of Daytona Beach,
Florida, said
that he was playing at a slot machine
when it said that he had won
$166,666,666.65. The casino then told
him otherwise.
Seebeck was playing the Bally Ultimate
Party Spin Slot Machine at $4 a spin.
After playing roughly $80 he received a
surprise when it looked as though his
slot machine had hit and he was now a
millionaire. He says that he was
thrilled, and could not believe his good
luck. He says that he was in shock – but
absolutely thrilled.
Then
casino managers came over and roped off
the slot machine. Seebeck says that he
sat there for an hour trying to figure
out what to do with his winnings first,
and then the casino managers came over
and told him he had not won. They said
that the slot machine had malfunctioned
and that it only has a top payout of
$199,000.
They
then asked him to sign a form that said
that he was not entitled to the payout
and that it was a malfunction of the
slot machine. Seebeck said no and hired
a lawyer instead. He says that not only
was he mad that they didn’t want to pay
out – but if the slot machine really
only had a payout of that small amount
then they knew immediately that this was
not a winning pay out. However, they
left him there for an hour with everyone
around him thinking that he was a big
winner – so they got the publicity out
of it, but then didn’t want to pay on
it.
