Ohio Getting Taste of Las Vegas

Ohio is ready for their slot machines to come in. Residents of the state have voted in favor of issue three which would allow four slot machine casinos to come into the state as soon as possible. More than 53% of those voters who showed up on Election Day decided that they wanted slot machines legalized in their state, and he wanted to see the proposed millions of dollars flowing into their coffers.

The state of Illinois is not necessarily as pleased as Ohio is as they are aware that they will be losing millions of dollars in slot machine revenue. Illinois has counted on Ohio residents to come to their state in order to gamble at their slot machines, and now they now and if Ohio is having them within their borders that most residents will most likely spend their money in state instead of next door.

This is the problem that many states are seeing where they may have been making a nice sum of money off of the slot machines that were functioning within their state, but then a neighboring state brings them in as well and they see their numbers drastically drop. This leaves them in a bind as the money that they had been counting on from the slot machines is no longer coming in the amount that it was before.

They are now faced with having to cut various programs due to a lack of slot machine revenues. Some states choose to add even more gambling and notes that this will shore up their numbers, but all it really does is buy them a little time until a neighboring state brings in the expanding gambling as well. This is why states should never count on slot machine revenue or any form of gambling to make their budget dollars last.
