Oregon Hoping
for Revenue Boost
The great state of Oregon has fallen
prey to the slot machine myth. They had
brought in slot machines in order to
boost revenues within the state and had
seen them do well for them for many
years. However, the economy being what
it is, slot machine revenues have
dropped off. This is how it works
unfortunately for many states. They
bring in slot machines in the hope that
it will solve their budgetary woes, and
initially they seem to be a good fit.
However, eventually, people stop playing
them and use their money for things like
electricity instead.
But Oregon remains undaunted and says
that it is not the fact that people
don't have the money to play slot
machines, is that they do not want to
play slot machines that they have. The
state has decided that it is going to
bring in new slot machines and put them
in different locations because they
think this is going to get people to
play. They have installed 400 new slot
machine games in bars around the state,
and eventually will have put in more
than 2000 new slot machines when they
are done.
The director of their lottery is hoping
that by bringing in new machines that
they will be able to entice people to
come play who may not have necessarily
played in a while. They know that major
slot machine Mecca’s like Atlantic City
and Las Vegas have seen drastic
reductions in the amount of slot machine
revenue that they are bringing in, but
they feel that they might be able to
ward off the trend by simply bringing in
better games.
They say that they are aware that
although the slot machine industry was
initially thought of as being recession
proof, this does not necessarily seem to
be the case any longer. However, they
also think that perhaps people are
bored, and thus the new machines will be
brought in.
