Government Checking Slot Machines
As the
number of Indian casinos grows in the
US, there has been some concern that not
all of them are offering just what they
are supposed to be. There have been
concerns voiced that some casinos may be
offering slot machines instead of the
bingo machines that they were permitted
to run. The government has decided to do
something about that.
They are now checking each casino to
ensure that they are not offering slot
machines instead of the bingo machines
that they were approved for. The main
difference is that players play each
other on the bingo machines, and thus
there are lower payouts. Whereas with
the slot machines, the payouts are
higher, and you are only playing the
machine.
Some of the bingo games look a lot like
slot machines, so it will be difficult
for the government to find out which
ones are and which ones aren’t the
offending machines. If they are not
allowed to have slot machines and are
offering them however, then it would be
illegal and the tribe could get into a
lot of trouble.
The National Indian Gaming Commission is
proposing new rules that would make it
much clearer to customers as to whether
or not they were playing an illegal slot
machine or not. The bingo games would be
called as such, and the machines would
run slower than they used to. Also,
there would be minimum amounts of
players for a game to proceed.
Some states do not allow slot machines
at all, and others have imposed limits
on the numbers and types allowed. The
new bingo games are pushing those
limits, and thus the government feels it
is necessary to handle it before it
becomes an epidemic.
