Pushing for Slot Machines
The state
is always looking for ways to bring in
more money to balance the budget and
allow for programs that either end up
shortchanged or eliminated because there
just isn’t enough money to fund them.
However, State Rep. David Flynn says
that he has a solution and this time
around he is going to win.
Flynn is talking about slot machines. He
says that they will bring in the money
that is needed to fill the state’s
budget gaps, and make residents happy at
the same time as they would like to see
legalized slot machines in the state.
The Bridgewater Democrat tried before to
get slot machines legalized, but was
unsuccessful. This time he thinks he can
get people to realize that without the
slot machines they are going to suffer
terribly as a state. He says that he is
going to get the Legislature to approve
them when they come back next year.
He says that the state could bring in
$700 million from the slot machines, but
they could also bring in less due to the
current fiscal situation. However,
either way he says that the slot
machines will be of a benefit to the
state as it is still extra money that
they do not currently have.
He knows that the slot machines are
going to bring in revenue, and they are
going to bring in jobs. As far as he is
concerned it is a win-win situation for
the state.
