Illegal Slot Machines

Killeen, Texas was the site of a raid of illegal slot machines Friday night. Three businesses were targeted in the raid, and police discovered cash as well as the illegal slot machines.

Late Friday night, detectives from the Killeen Police Department Organized Crime Services raided three businesses and arrested four operators. They were charged with running an illegal gaming establishment.

There were about 20 patrons there when the bust was made, and they were each issued misdemeanor citations for playing the illegal slot machines. Police took the slot machines and about $9,000 in cash from the establishments.

Police said that they had been working on a lengthy investigation before the warrants were issued. Some in the community were not happy that a large portion of the police was used to investigate the illegal slot machines, nor that they spent man hours on this when they should have been patrolling the streets for violent crime.

Some felt that the illegal slot machines weren’t hurting anyone and should have been allowed to stay, while others were pleased that the police department shut it down – saying that it would only lead to further crime in their town.
