Seniors Drawn to Slot Machines
Casinos
around the country work to bring in
their senior citizens. They offer bus
rides, and discounts on food, and free
tokens to get them started. The casinos
know that if they want to keep running
business the way they have been, they
have to get their seniors in front of
the slot machines.
However, in Northern California, things
took a turn for the bad with one of
their junkets. The charter bus that was
bringing seniors to the casino crashed
and killed eight people. This is bad
news for the casinos, as many will be
hesitant to get on one of the busses
now, which means less money for them.
The cheap transportation that they offer
to get the seniors to their slot
machines comes at too high of a price
for those that traditionally ride them.
There are many seniors now concerned
enough not to go, which deprives them of
their fun and social activities.
However, some of their children are not
necessarily upset by this. They say that
besides being death traps, those charter
busses bring their parents to slot
machines where they spend all of their
money. They are taking their social
security checks to the casinos and then
they don’t have money for food or living
expenses.
The bus that crashed was on its way to
the Colusa Casino Resort, and the driver
was arrested for suspicion of being
under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
He did not have the proper license to be
driving a bus, nor did the vehicle have
a valid license plate.
