Cecil County
Might be Getting Slot Machines
Maryland has
long tried to get slot machines in their
state. But voters have finally approved
bringing in slot machines but it seems
that that was just the first of their
problems. They are have been many issues
with trying to bring the slot machines
in, especially since many of the
locations are near where residents live.
The residents of Maryland say that they
may have voted in slot machines but they
don’t necessarily want them in their
backyard. However one group, Penn
National Gaming is finally making some
headway in the slot machine industry.
They are looking to build and run a
facility in Cecil County that would have
1500 slot machines and it seems that
residents are having very little problem
with it.
Penn National is already in the slot
machine business. They would be bringing
to the states an experience unlike any
other, as well as a reputation that
precedes them. They have already paid an
additional $6 million in licensing fees
to the state and they must spend at
least $75 million building the new
facility.
The first slot machine license has
already gone to William M. Rickman who
is opening an 800 slot machine facility
near Ocean City. The only area that
still seems to be under consideration is
Baltimore and that location will have
3,750 slot machines coming in. They are
currently looking into Baltimore City
Entertainment Group as a possibility.
Before they can move forward they have
to pass background checks, and the
results of that will not be seen until
November.
