Bill is Signed
by Governor Giving State More Slot
Machines
Illinois Governor Pat
Quinn has signed a deal that would allow
more slot machines to come into the
state. Quinn signed a bill that would
allow thousands of slot machines to
inundate their state and now they will
be located within restaurants and bars
across the state. The governor says that
the money that is coming from these slot
machines will enable the state to finish
major funding projects that have been
cut by a too poor budget.
The board now has to come up with
regulations for the slot machines as
they don’t currently have any. They have
two months to come up with the new
regulations and once the slot machines
are up and running the state will get
30% of the revenue that comes in from
them.
Under the deal the state could bring in
a maximum of 77,000 slot machines, which
is a significant increase over what they
offered before. In addition to figuring
out how the slot machines are going to
run, they have to find out how many they
want to allow in each parlor.
Illinois is just like every other state
who feels that the addition of slot
machines is going to solve all of their
problems. They should realize by now
that this is not necessarily the thing
they want to solve those problems and
that cutting the budget is probably a
better idea. Sooner or later they will
figure it out, let’s hope for more
sooner than later.
