Getting Slot Machines
Maryland
voters have tried for years to keep slot
machines out of their state. The
government of the state has been opposed
to bringing in the slot machines as
well, making it an ideal situation for
their residents. However the state and
those same residents have finally agreed
to allow slot machines to come in, but
it has proved to be a huge hassle all
around.
Even
trying to decide upon the locations that
the slot machines would be able to come
into has turned into a real nightmare.
One location in
Anne
Arundel
County
was approved but once voters realized
that it would be as close to the wall as
it is going to be they realized that
they didn’t want it. They are continuing
to fight against the invasion as they
see it.
Some
companies looking to bring in the slot
machines are having a little easier time
of it. Penn National Gaming is bringing
in a slot machine casino to the city of Perryville and residents could not be happier.
Not just that but Maryland’s Video
Lottery Facility Location Commission
just unanimously voted to allow the
company to triple the number of slot
machines that they will be bringing in.
Initially the company was allowed to
bring in 500 slot machines to the site.
However they have now agreed that they
can bring in as many as 1,500 slot
machines, which is still 1,000 less than
the state authorized maximum for that
particular site. The company is hoping
to open a casino by October 2010.
