Mount
Airy Fills Floor with Slot Machines
Tim Yahn
has the enviable job of making sure that
the Mount Airy Casino Resort is up and
running for opening day October 15th.
Will they be ready? Yahn believes they
will be, and he is the casino’s Director
of Slot Operations, so he probably knows
what he is talking about.
A total of 2,525 slot machines have been
installed on the casino floor, but it
seems an odd number. When asked, Yahn
simply says because that is all there
was room for. But how the slot machines
are set up is not quite as simple.
Yahn is on hand to make sure that each
and every one of those slot machines is
running up to snuff before that day
arrives. He has other slot machine
technicians and supervisors to help him
make that happen, as each slot machine
must be networked to the casino and to
the PA Gaming Control Board’s facility
as well.
Each slot machine has a particular place
on the floor as well – keeping traffic
moving and away from entrances and
exits. Each of the more popular slot
machines will be there as well, and
things like the buffet and the
attractions are all taken into
consideration when deciding where to
place the slot machines. There are even
45 attendants who wipe down each slot
machine every other day – as it takes
two days to get all of the machines
cleaned from the construction debris.
Will they be ready? It sure looks like
it!
