Woman
Sues Over Slots Trip
With all
of the problems in the world, it is good
to know that our legal system is still
working well. Life just isn’t the same
without a good lawsuit…
Frances Gum is suing the State Line
Market for what she alleges was an
unclear step into their slots parlor.
Gum was going to the State Market, which
is a market and slots parlor – as well
as a bar, to play the slots. She stepped
down into the slots parlor, but missed a
step and fell.
Gum says that the market was aware of
the danger, but chose not to do anything
about it, and therefore is at fault for
her fall. Gum, and her husband Lawrence
Philip Gum are claiming that the she is
no longer able to have a normal or
productive life as she was “grievously
injured” during the fall into the slots
parlor.
Gum is from Berkeley County and filed
the suit in the same country which she
resides. Mr. Gum is claiming that he has
been “deprived of the society,
companionship, consortium, and services”
of his wife and is seeking unspecified
compensatory damages.
State Line Market is waiting to see what
the trial will bring; the case has been
assigned to Judge David Sanders. Like I
said, good thing the legal system is
still working well.
