Bingo is a Go!

Bingo is on its way having gained approval from the council. The Chances Good Time Community gaming center has gotten good news regarding their bid to bring the bingo portion of their operation to the Treasure Cove Casino.

The owner, John Major, had announced that their downtown operation was not doing well, and wanted permission to move the bingo machines to the casino. There was some speculation that the council may not approve it, but the council has voted unanimously to approve the relocation.

The council said that they were supporting the move to downtown because of all the good that the center does. Proceeds from the gaming center support 86 different charities in the area. The center has brought in $8 million over the past three years.

There were some who supported the move simply because they didn’t want slot machines downtown. There were a few council members who didn’t want to see the slot machines downtown in the first place – and are happy to see them go. As far as the center is concerned, no matter why they approved it, they are glad they did.

There are a few hoops still to be jumped through, and the move has not been fully approved. There are some governmental approvals that have to be taken care of, but the first hurdle has been jumped.
