Slot Machines Needed to Save Horse Racing

It used to be that you would go to the tracks, bet on the horses, hang around with your friends, then yell and scream like a crazy person for your horse to come in first. It was all great fun – one of America’s favorite past times.

However, now people are looking for quick rewards and they don’t go to the tracks the way they used to. Now they go to casinos and play their slot machines and hang out. The days of going to the track simply for the track are over.

There are those tracks that offer slot machines, and people still flock to those. However, they aren’t going for the horses, they are going for the slot machines. This defeats the purpose of even having a track – why not just go to a casino?

The tracks say that in order for them to stay alive in a dying industry, they have to bring in slot machines or they will close down. They are now competing with those tracks that already have slot machines, and thus are even further behind than they were before slot machines entered the picture.

Some say that it is a dying sport and needs to simply go. However, others argue that due to the literally hundreds of thousands of jobs that would be lost and an industry that would be annihilated, they have to keep racing going – and to do that they need slot machines.
