How Does a
Slot Machine Work?
When
people look at online slot machines they
see basically a computer program. They
think that playing a slot machine on
their computer is much like playing any
other game that you would find either on
their computer or in some form of a
gaming system. Many players even go so
far as to say that they don't think that
the slot machines that are online or in
an actual machines, rather it is really
just a way to waste some time.
But
with the land-based slot machines the
story is different. There is an actual
machine, that you are putting money
into, which means you're expecting money
out. The slot machines in the land-based
casinos are much more hands on their
online counterparts. People still play
them, but they are more curious as to
how they actually work.
Slot
machines are controlled by a random
number generator. This RNG determines
whether or not you are a winner or a
loser on that particular play. The
microchip in the slot machine controls
when each real will stop, even though
many claim it has something to do with
when you drop the coin in or how you
drop the coin, but it doesn't.
Each
slot machine has what is called a pay
table that shows the exact payout of
each of the possible combinations based
on how much you bet. If you do not bet
the maximum amount on the slot machine
you will not be eligible for the top
prize. This is not to say that you won't
win, you just won't win the maximum
amount possible. Once you put in your
coin the RNG randomly selects your
combination. If you have hit the
maximum, and it is a winning number,
then you will find yourself on the
winning side with the maximum payout.
