Kansas’
Slot Machines
Slot
machine enthusiasts are confused by the
recent turn of events involving Kansas. The state that is known for being
probably the most conservative in the
nation, and being dominantly Republican
Party led, has decided to add slot
machines to their state. This is the
state that is usually referred to as
conservative Kansas, which is why it is such a shock that
they would even consider bringing in
slot machines. However, the state needs
the money, which is why they're turning
to gambling.
Some
say they are shocked and appalled that
the state would turn to something that
they have so often rallied against.
However, the state says that they are
facing the same economic crisis as
everyone else, and therefore as they
have nothing else to turn to, they have
turned to the slot machines.
However, they will be handling a little
different than the other states. Kansas will be opening and owning their own
slot machine casinos. While many states
have been happy to allow other entities
to run their slot machines in their
casinos, Kansas can't resist owning their own casinos.
They are believed to be the only state
that would have such arrangement, as it
already has four Indian casinos that
they have allowed to run within their
country and take a portion of the
proceeds. However, they are about to
open their first non-tribal casino with
slot machines, and they expect to have
it done before the end of the year.
The
state says that they cannot continue
cutting things like education within
their state, and that they have to turn
to new and previously untapped revenue
sources. Experts say that it is
disappointing that the state would turn
to slot machine gambling, and ironic
that it would be
Kansas
of all states that would own their own
casinos.
