Another
Lawsuit for Ohio
More
lawsuits have been filed against the
Ohio
State government today. A
federal lawsuit has been filed by
Beulah
Park owner Charles J. Ruma
against Penn National Gaming. Ruma says
that he and Penn National had agreed
that they would have the option to
purchase the park if the Franklin County track was able to bring in and
operate a minimum of 1200 slot machines.
He is claiming a breach of contract.
The
lawsuit also claims, that Penn National
was to use its own resources to get the
slot machines approved at the track.
They were not to take any kind of action
that could prevent or delay the
implementation of the slot machines. But
Ruma says that Penn natio nal backed the
plan for voters to decide whether or not
slot machines should be allowed to
operate in Columbus,
Toledo, Cincinnati,
and
Cleveland. He
says that they have violated the
agreement and that they need to pay.
Ruma
also says that Penn National officials
told him that they will not be
purchasing the track. However they have
not formally done so, because Ruma says
that they want to make sure that if the
slot machines are legalized that they
still have the option to purchase it and
shut it down. Roma was one of the tracks
that filed the application to bring in
the slot machines, but he didn't meet
the deadline for the first $13 million
payment because he is not allowed to add
more debt to the track, and the
agreement has not been finalized.
Roma
says that he simply wants to get on with
his life and move forward without Penn
national. However he feels that they
have ruined his chances to have slot
machines at his park.
