Big Fine for
Underage Gambling
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
is not fooling around when it comes to
underage gambling. They have made it
very clear to their casinos than any
casino that is caught allowing underage
gambling to occur at their slot machines
or their table games will be fined.
Those casinos they choose not to heed
the warning will find that they are not
kidding.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
has recently fined the operators of
Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The
operators, Downs Racing, L.P., Had been
fined $97,500. The casino was found
violating the states rules that deal
with underage gambling. The Pennsylvania
Race Horse Development in Gaming Act
says that it is unlawful for anyone
under the age of 21 to operate or use
the slot machines. It is also against
the law for anyone under the age of 18
to even enter the casino.
The casino had 11 incidents of
individuals between 18 years of age and
under 21 years of age operating a slot
machine. This got them a fine of
$49,500. The other $48,000 was for four
separate incidents, where minors under
the age of 18 were in the casino. The
incidents occurred between August 2008
and March 2009.
The casino has agreed to change their
security plan in order to keep this from
happening again. They said that they
would be changing the way that their
security checks the entrances and exits
and checks those who were entering the
building so that they do not gain access
to the gambling floor.
