November
Brings Issues to Light
Maine
voters have a few things on their mind
these days as they know that November is
coming and they are going to have to
make some decisions regarding various
money making opportunities within the
state. Two of the issues on the ballot
are directly related to slot machines
and how they are going to be related to
the state.
Penobscot
County voters are going to
have an additional item to deal with
that deals with the slot machines as
well, which makes their ballot even more
of an issue for them.
The
first question is whether or not they
are going to allow slot machines to come
to a harness racing track in
Biddeford, or
possibly another community, that is
located within 25 miles of Scarborough
Downs. They also have to decide whether
or not to bring in slot machines to
Washington County, with the agreement
that the funds from all of the slot
machines, no matter where located, are
going to support specific state and
local programs.
Then
they have to decide if they want to
allow slot machines and table games to
come into Lewiston, and if so that
the money generated from those slot
machines would go to the state once
again. In
Penobscot County they have to make the additional
decision as to whether or not they want
to bring in table games at Hollywood
Slots. The location already offers the
slots, but they have to decide if an
expansion of gaming is where they want
to be.
